What's the difference?

HDR (High Dynamic Range) is a technique where the photographer takes multiple shots at different exposures and blends them into one image to preserve details in both shadows and highlights.

Example: A photo of a room with a bright window — HDR helps show both the outdoor view and the interior without overexposed highlights or underexposed shadows.

Flambient is a more advanced technique that combines ambient (natural) light and flash lighting. The photographer takes multiple shots: one with natural light, one or more with flash, and then manually blends them (often in Photoshop) to create a perfectly balanced, color-accurate, and dimensional image.

Example: In a kitchen with dark cabinets and warm lighting, Flambient can eliminate unwanted color casts from bulbs, brighten shadows, and reveal true textures without distortion.Why Flambient is more expensive:It takes more time on-site (setting up flash, shooting multiple frames).Post-processing is significantly longer and more complex (manual masking, color correction).The final result is much more professional and suitable for premium listings or designer portfolios.

We wanted to share a couple of recommendations that I always adhere to for our upcoming photoshoot:

Vibrant Accents: Keep a couple of fashion magazines, local fruits, and flowers (hibiscus works wonders) on hand. Together, we can strategically place them to create the perfect visual accents.

Avoid Decor Overload: Let's not overcrowd surfaces with decor. It's easier to add than to remove, so we'll strike the right balance.

Clean Windows are Essential: Ensure that the windows are spotless. Natural light is key, and clean windows contribute significantly to achieving the perfect shot.

Incorporate Hawaiian Traditions: Infuse the shoot with traditional Hawaiian details to add an authentic touch.

Consistent Lighting: Check that all light bulbs in the space emit the same temperature. I recommend cooler tones over warmer ones for a more modern and fresh feel.
